Ejaculation distance and cum volume are both due to a variety of factors, including pelvic muscle strength, sexual health supplementation, level of arousal, hydration, and more. While some of semen volume and cum distance are genetic, there are areas that can be improved through exercise, supplements, diet, and other methods. Edging is the practice of reaching near-orgasm, but not actually climaxing (5). Edging makes your body and sex organs prepare to orgasm, so semen is staged and ready to ejaculate. When you stop right before orgasm, this has built up more semen to ejaculate, as well as increased arousal. When a man finally does ejaculate after edging, it will be a significantly larger orgasm in terms of intensity, semen volume, and cum distance.
If you have premature ejaculation, techniques such as edging (and similar methods, such as the stop-start and squeeze methods) might allow you to have sex for a longer amount of time before you reach orgasm and ejaculate.
Research suggests that the stop-start and squeeze techniques are often effective at increasing sexual stamina in the short term (6). This increase in sexual stamina may improve your sexual self-confidence and pleasure, making sex a more enjoyable experience for you and your partner.
